Your Financial Aid Package
When you apply for financial aid, the WCU Financial Aid Office uses your information to determine your financial aid package.

We start by determining your expected family contribution (EFC)—the amount your family should be able to contribute toward the cost of your education. Comparing your EFC against your cost of attendance (COA), we create your financial aid package: the aid you’ll receive to attend WCU.

Typically, your financial aid package will include one or more of the following:

Federal loans: Low-interest loans offered by the federal government make up the largest portion of the financial aid package. Unlike private loans, most federal loans don’t have to be repaid until after graduation.

Grants: Students who demonstrate need may be awarded gift aid that doesn’t have to be repaid. Most grants are supplied by federal and state sources.

Federal Work-study: Part-time on-campus jobs provide another source of aid.

You might also apply for merit- and need-based scholarships, which are awarded by the university and other private, state, and national sources.
